What are the different types of access control?

Our access control system installation services range from simple door entry systems to more advanced security solutions that use biometric entry, such as fingerprint and facial recognition. There are basically three types of access control systems: discretionary access control (DAC), mandatory access control (MAC), and rule- or role-based access control (RBAC).

Discretionary access control systems

These systems can be controlled by anyone. System administrator permissions can be changed from person to person, so long as each individual has access to the system. The administrator of the system has comprehensive control over who has access permissions. A discretionary access control system is not very complex and is relatively easy to use. Access can be configured in groups group by system administrators.

Mandatory access control systems

This system provides control of the system to the system administrator. System administrators have limited authority to grant or deny access. Settings are already programmed into the system, and administrators cannot change them. Access settings can be altered by creating a new profile with a different role or cataloging. These are installed at premises where there is no need to change the security permissions because these systems are too restrictive. These are suited for facilities that require a very high level of controlled access, such as important government buildings, Embassies, etc..

Rule- or role-based access control

These systems deny access at specific times or limit access based on tags. Because this type of system has many options, system administrators can change the settings as needed. A user can be assigned access permissions based on their role. A project manager, for example, can be granted access that a project assistant does not have.

Can these Access Control Systems integrate with other security systems?

An access control system perfectly functions on its own. It can be used in conjunction with other systems. When combined with fire detection and CCTV, these systems can take the level of safety in building management to a new level. In case of a fire alarm, all the doors will be opened automatically in a few seconds to get maximum evacuation capability. We integrate all these various types of security systems into one spontaneous and easy-to-use interface.

Which access control system is right for my building?

We have the expertise and experience to design and install a system that works best for you, so you can focus on protecting your people, property and assets.

Cloud-Based Access Control

A traditional on-site access control system will have a server and connected computer on the business premises with software that can control the system and hold the information about who can access various areas and what access rights can be applied to individuals.

While this set up remains popular, many systems are now moving to cloud-based technologies that give more flexibility and greater functionality. A hosted or cloud-based access control system effectively moves the server from the customers' premises to a data centre (or similar) and hosts the equipment off-site. The key card readers remain on-site at relevant locations to read the key fob, card or mobile Bluetooth device to allow access to the user where appropriate.

These type of system have the following benefits
